It is advisable to hire a car, motorbike or bicycle on Gozo. We can arrange this for you. Alternatively you can arrange for a rental car pick-up from Malta airport. During the summer months it is near impossible to rent anything on Gozo without having booked at least two weeks in advance.

There is an hourly local public-bus service to Ghasri which will drop you off three minutes walk away from the guesthouse.

Another way to sightsee is by means of an efficient hop-on/off bus service that drops visitors off at various points of interest, dotted around the Island.

Location, location.....

Ghasri is a sleepy, peaceful, rural village located in the north-west of Gozo. The nucleus of the village radiates outwards around the main Church and piazza. Although it is the smallest village in the Maltese Islands with the least number of inhabitants, Ghasri has a mini-market, a police station, and its own local council. The closest restaurants is a 10 minutes walk from our front door in Ghasri Square or just a 5 minute drive away in nearby Gharb or Victoria.

Dar tal-Kaptan enjoys panoramic country views from all rooms and a sea-view from the terrace of one of our bedrooms. A tranquil cove and pebble beach can be found at the end of a 20 minute scenic walk from our front door whilst the best sunset on the Island is to be experienced at the foot of Gozo's only lighthouse situated just a 10 minute walk away.

DIRECTIONS BY CAR

Upon exiting the ferry, follow directions to Victoria. Drive through Victoria onto the road towards Gharb. You will encounter an arch where you have to give priority to vehicles coming towards you. Then drive along the aqueduct until you come to the first roundabout with a statue of a woman on it. Turn right and keep going straight until you come to the centre of Ghasri with the parish church on your left. Past the Church follow signs to ‘Villagg tal-Fanal’ keeping to left. Drive past the first fork in the road having passed Lighthouse Supermarket on your right. You will eventually find yourselves at a second fork in the road. On the left a sign directs you towards Ta’ Pinu Church. Do NOT take that road. On the right you will encounter another signpost to ‘Village tal-Fanal’. Take that road and turn right into Triq il-Fanal. We are located mid-way down that road on the right, past our red garage door and name plaque. Our house door is also red, down a few steps opposite a descending ramp and the beginning of the palm trees signposting the entrance to the complex ‘Villagg ta-Fanal’ on your left. You may park any where in that street and not incur any parking fees.

( You may have to deviate when you come to Victoria roundabout cross roads due to road works being carried out. Take right at fountain on your right -this is the road to Marsalforn - then immediately first left which will take you down to Brookies, then at mini roundabout first left again, back up to Victoria, then right to acquaduct and continue to follow directions as above from acquaduct)

DIRECTIONS BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT

You will need to catch a bus from the Gozo Ferry to Victoria, the terminus for all buses and then catch the bus from Victoria to Ghasri.

The Buses are hourly at 10 minutes to the hour.

The bus number from Victoria to Ghasri and vice-versa is number 308. The route is circular and hourly. The bus going from Ghasri to Victoria is less than 5 minutes walk from our guesthouse.

Just exit the guesthouse on your left. Walk up the road and at the top of our road turn right. We drive on the left on Malta so the bus stop is on the left hand side of the road to Victoria and on the right in the direction of ta’ Pinu sanctuary (which is only two bus stops away).

We are 9 stops from Victoria bus terminal. Get off at ‘Fanal’ for our guesthouse which is two stops after Ghasri Church.

The first bus from Ghasri to Victoria is at 5.11 am and the last one at 22.07. There is one every hour. Try to be on the bus stop by not later than 5 minutes past each hour.
